This tangy dip is a fun way to shake up ordinary layered Mexican salsa dip, for a truly unique and delicious easy dip recipe to share with friends, family, and loved ones. I love to put this dip out for football games and when I have company over for drinks, and it's so stress free and simple to put together, it almost makes itself!

Ingredients
This simple and delicious quick dip recipe is the perfect dip for your next party or taco night. It comes together in minutes, with easy to find and inexpensive ingredients. Here's what you'll need to make it:
- A block of cream cheese, softened to room temperature. Allowing the cream cheese to sit out on the counter for about an hour makes it easier to blend well.
- Sour cream (preferably full fat). If you like, you can use low fat sour cream or Greek yogurt instead.
- Fresh squeezed lime juice.
- Tajin seasoning, or chili lime seasoning.
- Prepared red salsa. Use mild, medium or hot- whichever you prefer! Choose whatever texture and spice level work for you!
- Shredded sharp yellow cheddar. Shred this by hand for best flavor and texture.
- One scallion (aka green onion), thinly sliced.
- Sliced jalepenos and cilantro leaves, for garnish.

How to make the Salsa and Cream Cheese Dip recipe
This addicting Mexican-inspired layered dip only takes minutes to make, and goes great with tortilla chips. Here's how to make it:
- Mix together cream cheese, scallion, sour cream, lime juice and Tajin seasoning until well incorporated/smooth with a stand mixer or electric hand mixer.
- Layer into a shallow glass bowl or pie plate.
- Top with salsa, then with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Top with jalapeños and cilantro, and serve with tortilla chips. (see recipe card below for full directions).

What to serve with the dip
This creamy salsa dip goes great with tortilla chips, corn chips, pita chips, or sliced veggies like celery sticks or bell pepper slices.
Storing
Store any leftover dip in an airtight container for 3-4 days. For best results, the dip is best eaten fresh the day it's prepared, at room temperature. Storing may cause it to become a bit watery.

Substitutions and Additions
- Use your favorite salsa for this recipe, such as homemade salsa, hot salsa, spicy salsa, or mild salsa. I prefer a red salsa recipe, as salsa verde (aka green salsa) tends to be a bit on the runnier side, and would be less texturally appealing. I prefer a chunky salsa for this recipe, such as Pace picante.
- Add any toppings you want! Black olives would be a great addition, as would drained and rinsed black beans, corn kernels, additional green onions, or chopped tomatoes.
- Don't feel like shredding your own cheese? Try bagged Mexican blend cheese, or any shredded cheese blend you like!
- Swap greek yogurt for the sour cream.
- Try neufchatel cheese in place of the softened cream cheese.
- Swap the Tajin for taco seasoning.
- Add some cottage cheese to the cream cheese mixture for added protein!
- Use a food processor instead of a mixer to blend the cream cheese mixture.
