An easy and delicious Spicy Pineapple Margarita!
A good margarita is a great way to get any party started! This spicy pineapple margarita recipe is ready in a few minutes, with simple ingredients! It's the perfect blend of sweet and spicy, and will please fans of pineapple margaritas and spicy margaritas alike!
Perfect for Cinco de Mayo, this spicy pineapple margarita recipe is easily scaled up, or easy enough to make as you go, with the perfect balance of fresh jalapenos, fruit juices, tequila, and Cointreau! This is the perfect margarita for fans of spicy cocktails, and can be made even spicer by using Jose Cuervo Devil's Reserve Tequila!

Ingredients
Here's what you'll need to make this Spicy Pineapple Margarita/ cocktail recipe!
- Tequila blanco or spicy tequila (I used Jose Cuervo Devil's Reserve).
- 2 oz pineapple juice (fresh pineapple juice or not from concentrate for best results).
- Fresh lime juice.
- Cointreau (orange liqueur) or triple sec.
- Agave nectar, for a bit of balanced sweetness.
- Fresh jalapeño slices, muddled. A little bit goes a long way, so be sparing if you are spice sensitive! Also, keep in mind the heat level of fresh jalapenos can vary, so taste them!
- Tajín sugar rim. For this, you'll mix equal parts Tajin and sugar. I like to use turbinado sugar for it's flavor and crunch!
- Fresh pineapple chunks or pineapple wedges, jalapeño slices, and lime wedge for garnish (if desired). I love to garnish with fresh fruit to make these cocktails extra festive!

How to make a Spicy Pineapple Margarita
These tasty margaritas take only a few minutes to make! Here's how to make the perfect cocktail:
- In a cocktail shaker, muddle jalapeño slices.
- Add tequila, pineapple juice, lime juice, Cointreau (or triple sec), and agave.
- Shake well.
- Rim the glass: To make the Tajin Sugar rim, mix equal parts Tajin seasoning and sugar on a small plate until well combined. Prior to filling your glasses, run a lime wedges around the rim of the glass, and dip in the Tajin and Sugar mixture to rim the glass.
- Fill glass with ice.
- Strain cocktail over ice, and garnish with lime, pineapple, and jalapeños, if desired. (see recipe card below for full ingredients list and instructions)

Tools for the perfect Margarita
- A good cocktail shaker. You can muddle and shake the cocktails right on the shaker.
- A muddler, for getting all the flavor out of the jalapenos. In a pinch, you could also use a large mason jar.
- Cocktail picks, for creative garnishing (optional).
- Your cocktail glass(es) of choice.

Substitutions and Additions
This Spicy Pineapple Margarita is easily adapted to work with your preferences, as well as what you have on hand in your refrigerator and pantry. Here are some great swaps and additions you can use to make this cocktail your own:
- Not a fan of a sugar rim? Do a salt mixture with the Tajin instead! Coarse kosher salt is a great choice for a salt rim!
- Don't have a muddler? Use the end of a wooden spoon instead to express the
jalapeño slices! - Fresh jalapeños vary in spice level, so play with the amount until you love it!
- Make a large batch and prep it in a large pitcher for a crowd!
- If you can't find Tajin, try a chili powder rim instead.
- Try orange pineapple juice, or another blend.
- If you LOVE heat and spicy cocktails, try using habanero peppers. Start small, as these pack some punch!
