A Delicious Fall Dip. Loaded with pumpkin puree, autumn spices, and creamy cottage cheese, this dip screams fall, and goes great with Ginger Snaps or sliced apples!
It's naturally gluten free, and high in protein! All the ingredients in this recipe are naturally gluten free, and the high protein from the cottage cheese (about 11 grams per serving) make it a satisfying and nutritious snack, too!
Great for parties! This recipe makes enough for a crowd, and is super shareable! It only takes 5 minutes to make, and all you need to serve it are some of your favorite cookies and some sliced apples!

Ingredient Notes
Canned pumpkin puree. For best results and flavor control, I prefer to use canned pumpkin puree, rather than pumpkin pie filling, for this recipe. I prefer the flavor and texture of Libby's Pure Pumpkin for this recipe. Libby's uses a specific variety of pumpkin, known as the Dickinson pumpkin. The Dickinson pumpkin is a type of squash known for its great taste and smooth texture, unlike standard carving pumpkins or sugar pumpkins.
Cottage Cheese. I use cottage cheese for this recipe, rather than cream cheese or whipped topping to give it a bit of a healthier advantage. This cottage cheese dip recipe blends up beautifully, and even the pickiest of eaters won't be able to tell the difference! For best results and the creamiest texture, opt for full fall (4% milk fat) cottage cheese. I love Cabot Creamery Cottage Cheese for this recipe.
Heavy Cream. I like to add a little splash (2 tbsp) of heavy whipping cream to the mix when blending up this Pumpkin Pie Dip to help loosen it up and give it a velvety, creamy texture. This is optional, but highly recommended for an ultra-creamy dip!
Maple Syrup. I prefer to use Amber Maple syrup, rather than Golden Maple syrup for this recipe, as it has a richer flavor that adds a bit more oomph to the finished Pumpkin Pie Dip. Be sure to use high quality, real maple syrup for best flavor.

Tips and Variations
Make it creamy and light. The little bit of heavy cream (optional) in this pumpkin cottage cheese dip helps to give the pumpkin dip a smooth and light texture, so I highly recommend adding it. If you like, you could also use some Cool whip or whipped topping. If using cool whip, fold it in at the end, rather than blending to keep things extra creamy an light.
Play with the toppings. Try adding some whipped cream, chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans), toasted coconut flakes, or mini chocolate chips on top before serving. I also like to add a little extra drizzle of maple syrup.
Swap the sweetener. If you prefer, you can use honey, liquid stevia, or Monkfruit to sweeten the dip in place of the maple syrup. Just be sure to add to taste.
Keep it chilled. This dip has the best texture and flavor when kept cold, so keep it nice and chilled prior to serving.
Use a food processor. I like to use my food processor to get the dip super smooth and well incorporated. If you like, you could also use a high powered blender, just be sure to use a spatula to push the ingredients down to make sure the dip comes out silky smooth.

What to serve with Pumpkin Dip
Dip it. This tasty pumpkin dip goes great with Nilla Wafers, Ginger Snap Cookies, Graham Crackers, pretzels, sliced apples, or strawberries!
Use it as a topping. Try the pumpkin dip as a topping for waffles, as part of a yogurt parfait, or spread it over banana bread or muffins!
Make a cute pumpkin bowl! Cut open a small pumpkin and hollow out the inside, and use it as a bowl for serving your pumpkin dip!

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
Can I use pumpkin pie filling?
I prefer to use pumpkin puree, as it has less additives and makes for a light and creamy dip. If you opt to use canned pumpkin pie filling, you'll want to omit or lessen the sweetener and spices, as it comes pre-flavored and sweetened, and also contains some thickening agents to help it set up as a pie.
Can I use low fat cottage cheese?
While this recipe for Pumpkin cottage cheese dip uses full fat for optimal creaminess, you could substitute for low fat. Just be aware that using lower fat cottage cheese will make for a less creamy dip.
