Gochujang Sauce recipe ingredients
This easy Gochujang Sauce recipe comes together in mere minutes, with just 5 ingredients! Here's what you'll need to make it:
- Prepared Gochujang paste. This fermented Korean chili paste is the main ingredient in the sauce, and gives the spicy sauce it's rich, umami flavor and spice. A staple of korean cooking, you can usually find this in most Asian or Korean Grocery stores or Asian Markets. I've also picked up some good quality Gochujang at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. You can always adjust the amount according to your preferred spice level.
- Toasted sesame oil. I prefer to use a toasted sesame oil, as it has a stronger flavor and really gives the sauce some depth. I love Ka-Me.
- Honey, for the perfect balance to the spice and umami of the Gochujang. You can also use pure maple syrup or brown sugar, if you prefer.
- Unseasoned rice vinegar, for some nice acid. I like Marukan.
- 2 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce. If you like, you could use regular soy sauce, liquid aminos, or coconut aminos in place of the low sodium soy sauce.
Note: The quality of the ingredients is key here, so opt for good, well known quality brands.
